How do I convert FLAC to MP3?

FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) compresses audio without discarding any data — decoding a FLAC restores the original PCM bit-for-bit, at roughly 50–60% of WAV size. It is the standard for music archiving, Bandcamp downloads, and hi-res store purchases. Its drawback is patchy support on older car head units, cheap portable players, and some smart devices, plus file sizes several times larger than MP3.
