What Happens When You Upload a File
Uploads travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection from your browser to our servers. Once received, the file is processed automatically by our ffmpeg-based conversion pipeline- No person listens to, opens, or reviews your audio at any point. The converted output is stored under a randomized, unguessable download URL that is only shown to you in your session (and in your account dashboard if you are logged in).
Automatic Deletion
Files are stored only as long as your plan's retention window: 24 hours for guests, 7 days for free accounts, 365 days for Premium, and indefinitely (at your choice) for Premium Plus. When the window expires, both the uploaded source and the converted output are permanently deleted from our storage- Not archived, not moved to a backup tier. What We Do Not Do With Your Files
We do not listen to, analyze the content of, or transcribe your audio. We do not use your files to train machine-learning models. We do not sell, rent, or share your files or your personal data with third parties. Files are never made publicly listable or indexed- The only way to reach a converted file is via its private URL during its retention window, and that URL dies when the file is deleted.
Account Data
A free account stores your email address, hashed password, and conversion history metadata (filenames, formats, sizes, timestamps). History entries can be cleared from your dashboard at any time, and deleting your account removes your stored data and any remaining files. Payment details for paid plans are handled by our payment processor and are never stored on mp3.now servers.
Practical Tips for Sensitive Audio
If you are converting particularly sensitive recordings: use the service as a guest so files expire within 24 hours, download your output promptly, and delete files manually if you created an account.
